After struggleing with the long loom trying to work in the round, I decide to go to the needles. The pattern of choice is called Lickety Split at www.Knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATTlicketysplit.html I have the first part of the toe cover done for one foot and now I'm starting the second one. http://farm1.static.flickr.com/150/390550195_f2642733b6.jpg I don't like to make a sock and then start the second on so I do them in tanden. I'm hoping to reach the point where I can put both socks on a cable needle and knit the magic loop. I found video instructions at www.knittinghelp.com I was able to see the entire video at work, but at home is stopped before it got to the how to, so I will just have to wing it with written instructions.

The socks are on hold. Some where in the instructions I took a wrong turn. The sock patterne at Shellie Humphries's blog, seemed easy enough, but I mis-read and had to start over. After trying again, I see the two stands of wool are too thick for the twisted stitch, so I will use the stocking stitch instead. I really want to make these socks for him.

I have another project on hold too, it's a crochet vest (i have pictures posted) I believe I will have to reconstruct the body. It started with the sleeves and now I see where I went wrong. Since this project is a whim I'm not pressed to finish it right away.

I hand knitted this sweater in 1978 for my oldest son Anthony. He was 6yrs old then, and he's 34 now. The sweater was also worn by my second son Jonathan when he was 7 and is now 24, my third son Juan worn it when he was 6 and will be 22 in November..

It was the first time I tried duplicate stitching, and I can't remember where I got the dog pattern from. The yarn is acrylic and has a lovely sheen, the color is very rich and I haven't seen that color in any of the newer yarns.

Well this just blows, I started the second sock on the new small loom, and counted rows to make sure I was on the right page with the first sock....the second sock is too short. I must have tightened my tension some how or I was too tense when I started it. It has been frogged; I will finish the first one, then like someone with sense, I will start the second one. (I still like my method of doing both together).

The new set is on the right. I like the bright colors and I glad they're not the flexible ones. I looked at the flexible one at Hobby Lobby and I didn't like the way the pegs squeeze together from just my feeling them through the package. I will start the second sock on the new blue loom and get it to the same length as the first, then I can work back and forth and keep the rows even.

I didn't turn a brim on the sock, instead I'm going to weave thread elastic on the inside to hold it closer to the leg. The tweed effect is from knitting one strand each of grey and beige. The rest of the sock is two strands of grey.

Well the weather turned out to be just wonderful so far. I got some bills paid and did a little shopping too. I found some great yarn at Dollar Tree today. It's Patons "Pebbles" in Gemstone (Cranberry red with splashs of different colors). I have bought 6 skeins, which is usually enough to make a hat and scarf. Don't know if I'll use the knitting machine or loom it. I also got a second set of Knitting looms. These are in the pastel colors, so if I make different projects I can color code them.

This week-end is supposed to be wet, so if there's no thunder and lightening I'll be on the web, otherwise I'll be knitting. I've start a sock for DH on the blue Knify Knitter. I'm using 100% Merino and LLama wool. I got 7 hanks of it at a used clothing store; what a bargain. There were 4-5 bags of new wool still with the labels on them. This is the second pair of socks for me to make from it. The first pair I made for myself; I use the toe-up-sock directions for 4 double point needles and I loved it. I made each sock at the same time, so I could keep the number of rows even. For the loom socks I will need a scond blue loom KK loom 24 pegs so I can finish at the same time. I discovered the laziness in me when I have to repeat the same thing over again. So if it calls for two, I work them simultaneously (that's a big word for me I spell checked it in Word). I also hope to base the Peel skirt together and see what happens.

The Peel Skirt

The Peel skirt originally is hand knitted. I did mine on the knitting machine. It started with five stitches and increased one stitch every four rows until I had 70 stitches. I then knitted straight until I had 900 rows. I'm hoping this is long enough, I only have a little yarn left.

Hi,
I'm Mamapooki, so named by my son Jonathan. I have been wanting to start a blog for quite some time now, so I'm jumping in feet first. I'm in my fifties and the kids are moved out (three boys). It's just me and hubby now, and he spends most of the time watching DVD's, oh they're clean ones, new movies we didn't go to see at the show, (we don't have cable or a dish anymore). I spent my time knitting, crocheting and banging on the computer keyboard. I have several projects that I've finished and will post pictures of when I figure out how to get them on blogger. My passion of knitting and the rest came from my mom, she knitted my layette when I was a baby and crocheted dollies up a storm. Rhematoid Arthritis took that away from her for a good while until I learn how to wrap the crochet hooks for her so she could hold them. She made an afghan from granny squares that covers a full size bed. I have since taken it apart so I can repair some of the squares, I first have to match the yarn. It was made from Sayelle yarn her yarn of choice and I still to this day don't know the difference from Wintuk or Sayelle. I know it worsted weight and I hope to match the colors or get it close enough for government work.

The lastest craft kick I'm on is Loom knitting. It is so much fun, and easy to do. I have made several hats, a dog sweater for my cousin's chunky puppy, a magic scarf and matching hat. I'm now doing a wool hat that at first I was going to felt it, but I'm leaving it as is. I have the round loom set and I want to get the oval set next.
